Certificate Program

Ten courses at 1.5 credits each (15 credits total)

Drawing and painting are the building blocks of disciplines in fine art. They are not only incredible technical tools, but are also media with unbounded expressive virtues. In this certificate, students will examine the basics of each medium before moving on to more advanced instruction, and develop a sophisticated means of expression while developing a critical eye.

Seven (7) required courses:

• DR1250 Two-Dimensional Design; or DR1260 Color Theory
• DR1200 Introduction to Drawing
• DR2200 Intermediate Drawing
• PT1200 Introduction to Painting
• One 1000-level or above Printmaking course
• One 2000-level Painting course
• One 3000-level Advanced Drawing or Painting course

Any combination of 1000-level or above elective courses for a total of 4.5 credits may be chosen from the following:

• Drawing
• Painting
• Botanical Art and Illustration
