AH4280: African-American Art: Harlem Renaissance

This survey introduces students to the significant developments in modern and contemporary African American Art history and criticism by examining a selection of art historical writings and other documents such as exhibition catalogs, art reviews and articles in contemporary art journals; moreover, the course includes assignments requiring students to visit exhibitions and attend seminars and/or artists' talks. Students are also required to give presentations in class, write a research paper and other related written coursework, as needed.
