BG2201: Botany for Illustrators

Drawing plants that are scientifically accurate requires an understanding of basic botany. Utilizing the living plant collection at the U.S. Botanic Garden, students will learn plant morphology by examining the enormous variety of plant forms and structures. An overview of plant classification, including angiosperms and gymnosperms, will be covered. Half of the course will be dedicated to botanical illustration, using pencil and pen and ink techniques.

Botanical Art + Illustration students should enroll in this class, instead of BG2200.
