DR0980: The Art of Storyboards Short Course

Learn how to translate a script into a compelling visual tale. Storyboards visually explain an animation panel by panel. They are an essential tool for planning and presenting your ideas before creating an animation, film or other time-based media. In this short course, students will learn the skills needed to board for animations including correct technical notations, layout, composition, as well as camera blocking and framing. Through demonstrations and hands on projects students will understand acting, gesture and pose to convey a clear and accurate story. An overview of animatics will also be presented. This focus of this class is storyboards for animations; however students interested in creating storyboards for other time-based media, such as film or motion graphics are welcome to enroll.

The following prerequisites are required for this course:
Previous drawing experience strongly recommended.
