FA2751: Place and Narrative: Shaping Perceptions Through Photographic Expression
Join fine art photographer Muriel Hasbun and photojournalist Susan Sterner in exploring beneath the surface of beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. In an intensive two-week course, students will explore the role of the photographer in shaping perceptions of time and place. Through a multi-disciplinary approach drawing from the traditions of both fine art and documentary photography, course participants begin with a series of exercises designed to challenge the way they see and (re)present subjects. From these initial images an idea is developed into a body of work. Noted Mexican photographer, Pablo Ortiz Monasterio will be leading a tour through important photographic and cultural centers in Mexico City for the first 3 days of this course, then he will join in on the final critiques at the end of the course.
