JE2300: Jewelry as Sculpture
Most people think of jewelry as functional and wearable, and don't give it much more thought. In this class, we will look beyond that classification by exploring the idea of art jewelry as sculptural form. Students will use their jewelry making skills to create pieces that push the boundaries of the jewelry/sculpture divide. Topics will include the relation of form to the body and surroundings, spatial relations of shape and form, and how the ideas of intent and scale shape function.
