PD1100: Focus on Photojournalism

The two-week Focus on Photojournalism program offers students the opportunity to enhance their photography skills while exploring the thriving world of photojournalism in the nation’s capital. Award-winning Washington based photographers provide an exciting, real-life look at the principles and practice of their trade. Working with seasoned professional photojournalists within direct proximity to the legendary news-making sources and institutions that shape our current affairs, students learn to create picture stories and other documentation approaches by editing, captioning, and sequencing images. Students check in to the dorms on Sunday and check out on Saturday. Classes meet weekdays. Activities and shooting time are scheduled evenings and on the weekend. Due to their intense and comprehensive nature, the Focus programs in Fine Art Photography and Photojournalism are only offered as residential programs. Program fees include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, activities, and the majority of the course materials and supplies.

Students must bring a digital SLR camera.
