PR1350: Etching and Monotypes
An introduction to the basic processes and principles of printmaking, this course will focus on the art of printing original images in the intaglio tradition as well as through contemporary monotype methods. The course covers line and tone etching, line and tone engraving and relief on metal plates. It also covers versatile and adaptable Monotype techniques where painterly and printmaking methods combine to create one-of-a-kind prints. The course gives the students personalized opportunities to integrate and extend their interest and experience in drafting and painting through learning the methods and materials of printmaking.
