SL1410: Introduction to Stone Carving

This course focuses on direct carving in stone. Students will explore abstract and objective forms while working on personally designed projects. There will be an emphasis on mastering carving techniques, including hand and power tools, and on exploring concept and composition within the subtractive context. Individual attention and an immediate hands-on approach will address the needs of all students.

At times this course may be cross-tallied with SL2410: Intermediate Stone Carving. Students with prior experience may wish to register for the more advanced section.
