SL2410: Intermediate Stone Carving
This course is designed for students who have had entry-level sculpture and carving classes. The focus will be advanced carving techniques. The use of texture and form will be explored, utilizing both traditional and non-traditional carving techniques and tools. Further inclusion of advanced sculptural techniques will examine the direct carving method, not using a model or maquette but allowing free creative expression. Traditional carving methods will also be employed to replicate sculpture, planned thought process, drawing, model making, mold making, and copying using advanced sculptural instruments.
This course is occasionally cross-listed with SL1410: Introduction to Stone Carving. Students should enroll in the version of the course appropriate for their skill level.
