Introduction to Ceramics

CR1205 (1.5 credits or audit)
Open to all skill levels, this course covers hand-building techniques, the wheel, glaze application, kiln use and firing methods.

Introduction to the Wheel

CR1250 (1.5 credits or audit)
Students are introduced to using the wheel to create functional pottery.

Introduction to the Wheel

CR1253 (3.0 credits or audit)
Students are introduced to using the wheel to create functional pottery and explore the poetic presence that results from the character of clay. (CE students may request special permission to enroll in this 3 credit undergraduate course.)

Introduction to Ceramic Tile

Students learn to create ceramic tiles while experimenting with various methods of tile production and surface effects through glazing and firing.

Intermediate Wheel Throwing

Students will learn to improve their throwing skills and explore a range of decorative techniques.

Intermediate Wheel-Poetry of Pottery

The intermediate wheel class will delve into beakers, vase's, and pitchers through weekly assignments using the pottery wheel.

Intermediate/Advanced Hand Building

Students will build on their hand building skills by experimenting with advanced techniques for creating both sculptural and utilitarian objects.

Innovative Porcelain Techniques

Students develop a variety of techniques adapted from traditional studio practice industrial applications to create, refine, and finish works in vitrified porcelain.
