Corcoran College of Art and Design

How do I request to waive a prerequisite for a Digital Media Design or Graphic Design course?

SHORT NON-CREDIT COURSES

To request to waive the prerequisite for a non-credit short course, please e-mail ceadvisor@corcoran.org regarding your prior experience as it relates to the prerequisite for the course you wish to enroll in.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

To request to waive the prerequisite for a Digital Media Design or Graphic Design credit course, please send a copy of your resume to ceadvisor@corcoran.org with a brief note regarding your prior experience as it relates to the prerequisite for the course you wish to enroll in. You will be contacted if a portfolio review and additional materials are necessary in order to waive the prerequisite.

CREDIT COURSES (CREDIT OR AUDIT)

To request to waive the prerequisite for a Digital Media Design or Graphic Design credit course, please send a copy of your resume as a PDF and examples of your work demonstrating proficiency equivalent to that of the prerequisite you wish to waive to ceadvisor@corcoran.org.

When sending your work samples or portfolio for review, please send all of your samples and resume in one e-mail. You may do so as links to images on your website or by using the online form below. It is best to send examples of print work as PDFs; websites should be sent as links to the live site.

The materials will be forwarded to the Undergraduate Design department for review and a determination regarding the request to waive the prerequisite. Once the materials are reviewed the Continuing Education department will email you. Please note that this same process applies to students registering to audit a credit class.
