We invite you to discover the Corcoran College of Art + Design’s unique and comprehensive Pre-College courses and programs; designed for rising high school juniors and seniors who want to prepare themselves for college admission and undergraduate success in the fields of photography, fine art and design.

Summer Pre-College Programs
Our Summer programs carry two undergraduate credits for each two weeks of study, and draw upon the Corcoran’s distinct resources, including a renowned faculty of artist-educators, intimidate environment, and unique location in Washington, D.C., the nation’s cultural capital.

Portfolio Development,
Advanced Studio, or
Photography Focus programs, you will have the opportunity to not only further develop your talents, but meet other high school students from across the country and the world who share your passion for art and design.
DAY AND RESIDENTIAL SUMMER PROGRAMS
Designed to meet the needs and interests of a wide range of students, Portfolio Development programs are offered both as day and residential, while Advanced Studio programs are only offered as day programs. Due to their intense and comprehensive nature, the Focus programs in Fine Art Photography and Photojournalism are only offered as residential programs.
Day Programs
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, Day programs are ideal for local students and those who not require housing. Lunch costs are included in the program fees.
Residential Programs
Designed for students who reside beyond the Washington metropolitan area and for local students who would like to sample a college environment.

EVENING WORKSHOPS
Introductory workshops in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, printmaking, and design are scheduled on several mid-week evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. Students pay no additional fees for these workshops. Dinner is included. Evening workshops are mandatory for Portfolio Development residential students; and optional for day students in the Portfolio Development and Advanced Studio programs.
CLOSING EXHIBITION AND RECEPTION
Regardless of the program option you choose, all students have their work showcased in the Pre-College Exhibition, which is held at the Corcoran’s Downtown campus on the final day of each two-week session. Parents, family members, and friends are invited and encouraged to attend both the exhibition and reception.
