Corcoran College of Art and Design

Summer Advanced Studio

REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER 2013 IS OPEN

The intensive Advanced Studio portfolio-development programs are designed specifically for high school students looking to challenge their creative and conceptual thinking, refine their drawing and painting or design skills, and develop stronger portfolio pieces. Highlights include field trips and panel discussions with professionals in the fields of art and design, smaller class sizes, and extended open-studio hours.

Is the Advanced Studio for you?
This program focuses on students’ individual goals in relation to class projects. While there is not an application process, students are required to submit a portfolio and complete a Student Profile form that helps to identify their goals. The Advanced Studio is recommended for students who aim to attend art school and requires students to have previously completed a Pre-College Portfolio Development program at the Corcoran or at another accredited college or university.

PREREQUISITES & REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Students wishing to enroll in the Advanced Studio must also submit the following at the time of registration:

  • An Advanced Studio student profile form.
  • A portfolio of five digital images (no more, no less than five, please), including one self-portrait and additional pieces of your best work. Digital images should be at least 300–500KB and formatted as .jpg, .pdf, or .tif files.
  • Transcripts showing completion of a previous Pre-College program with a grade of B or above. (Students who complete a Pre-College program at the Corcoran do not need to submit transcripts)
